oil mill brook Fishing Report

Oil Mill Brook Trip

Spent about two hours running up this brook. First fish of the day was a 12" brown and the largest i had. The fish were very agressive, like they had never seen a lure before, and that might make sence considering the small size and limited amount of pools. I drug the 1/8 silver cleo spoon again to good effect, and caught 9 in total. The smallest was only 4" or so. I spoted one good fish the hole trip, but i had spooked it before i got a chance to cast at it. There were tons of bugs, and i even thik i got a leach on my foot, which i did not find until i got home. This time of year might be best considering how cold the water was, still very cool. I did not use waders just aqua sox and shorts. I walked up the brook in the water the hole way. There are lots of houses at first, and then it opens up and then your in the middle of the woods. I went under the 395 when the river forked and that ended quickly, in a marsh. I went back under the bridge and continued north. I think i made it about a mile or so, but the water level dropped after the split, and the pools were very small afterward. I enjoyed myself, and it was a good adventure, but i would not do it again.
